Day By Day / 7-Day Uganda Primates Adventure.

Day 1: Transfer from Entebbe or Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park

Your adventure begins with a scenic drive westward, unfolding Uganda’s countryside in vibrant layers—tea plantations glowing in the morning sun, crater lakes shimmering between rolling hills, and small villages bustling with daily life. As you approach Kibale Forest, the environment shifts to cool, dense woodland alive with bird calls and rustling branches. Upon arrival, you settle into a lodge bordering the forest, where the atmosphere is tranquil and inviting. The evening is perfect for unwinding and absorbing the forest’s rhythm before the next day’s encounter with chimpanzees.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Wetland Exploration

At sunrise, you head to the park headquarters for a briefing before venturing into the thick Kibale Forest. The trek is filled with anticipation as you follow the resonant hoots and movement of chimpanzee families high in the treetops. When you finally meet them on the forest floor, you witness their dynamic social world—dominant males asserting control, mothers caring for infants, and juveniles swinging with playful confidence. Later in the afternoon, you explore Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-led conservation area richly populated by monkeys, birds, butterflies, and tropical plants. The wetland walk adds depth to your understanding of Kibale’s ecosystem as the day fades into peaceful forest sounds.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park & Afternoon Wildlife Viewing

After breakfast, you travel south through the beautiful crater lakes region before descending toward the vast savannah of Queen Elizabeth National Park. The change in scenery is striking as forests give way to wide grasslands and acacia-dotted plains. Upon reaching your lodge, the afternoon is spent on a relaxed wildlife experience, introducing you to elephants, antelopes, buffaloes, and a variety of birds that roam freely across the landscape. The warm colours of sunset paint the plains, offering a scenic end to your first day in Uganda’s most famous savannah park.

Day 4: Wildlife Sightings & Kazinga Channel Boat Safari

The morning brings a full game drive across the Kasenyi plains, where the golden light of dawn creates ideal conditions for wildlife viewing. Lions may be seen hunting or resting, large herds of Uganda kob gather in the open fields, and elephants move gracefully through the savannah. After lunch, the iconic Kazinga Channel awaits—a natural waterway that supports one of the largest concentrations of hippos in Africa. As your boat glides past riverbanks, you see crocodiles basking, elephants drinking, and countless bird species shimmering above the water. It is a calm, immersive experience capturing the harmony of wildlife around the channel.

Day 5: Drive to Bwindi via the Ishasha Sector

Today’s journey leads you into the remote Ishasha region, known for its rare tree-climbing lions. Fig trees rise prominently against the horizon, and with luck, you may find the lions lounging lazily among the branches—a sight found in only a few places in the world. Afterward, the road climbs steadily into the Kigezi Highlands, where terraced hills and deep valleys guide you toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Upon arrival, the cool mountain air and rainforest ambience settle around you, signalling that gorilla trekking is just hours away.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest

Morning mist curls through the forest as you gather for your gorilla trekking briefing. The trek begins slowly, gradually unveiling the intimate world of the mountain gorillas. Vines, giant ferns, and ancient trees form a living cathedral around you as rangers trace the family’s path. When you finally meet the gorillas, the forest becomes still. You watch a silverback’s powerful posture, the curiosity of juveniles, and the tender moments shared between mothers and infants. The one hour spent with them is moving, humbling, and unforgettable—an experience many describe as life-changing. The afternoon is left open for rest, storytelling, and quiet appreciation of the day.

Day 7: Return to Kampala or Entebbe

After breakfast, the return journey begins, winding through the beautiful highlands and vibrant villages of southwestern Uganda. The drive offers time to reflect on the week’s extraordinary encounters—from chimpanzees in the treetops to gorillas in the mist. As you approach Kampala or Entebbe, the adventure draws to a close, leaving you with vivid memories, deep impressions, and a renewed appreciation for Uganda’s pristine primate habitats.
