Day 1: Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your journey begins with an early pickup from Kigali, followed by a scenic drive north toward the Cyanika or Katuna border. As the cityscape fades behind you, Rwanda’s terraced hills unfold in soft green layers, offering a breathtaking introduction to the region’s highland beauty. Border formalities are swift, and soon you enter Uganda, where the landscape shifts into rugged valleys, deep forests, and rolling hills that characterise the Kigezi Highlands.

Continuing toward Bwindi, the road winds through rural communities and tea plantations until the ancient rainforest finally appears—dense, green, and alive with the songs of birds and the whisper of mist. You arrive at your lodge tucked along the forest edge, where the atmosphere is calm and filled with anticipation. The afternoon is spent relaxing, enjoying the mountain views, and preparing for the once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trek the next morning.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi & Return to Kigali

The day begins early with breakfast before heading to the Bwindi ranger station. Here, you receive a detailed briefing before being assigned a gorilla family. Rangers then lead you into the forest, navigating through thick vines, moss-covered ground, and towering trees that filter soft morning light.

The trek builds in excitement until you finally meet the gorillas. The atmosphere becomes still as you observe the silverback’s quiet dominance, juveniles playing with boundless curiosity, and mothers nurturing their young in gentle silence. The hour spent with them is intimate, emotional, and deeply moving—an encounter that reshapes your connection to wildlife.

After trekking back, you begin your journey to Kigali, retracing the beautiful highlands and terraced hills until you reach the Rwandan border. By late afternoon or early evening, you arrive in Kigali, carrying memories of a rare and powerful encounter deep in Uganda’s rainforest.
